Unlike the RKO Kong that climbed the Empire State Building in 1933, Toho's Kong is much larger (the original only reaching Godzilla's waist) and endowed with special powers, like the ability to draw strength from electricity.  Kong would appear twice in the Toho series of kaiju films, first taken from Faro Island in the South Seas to encounter Godzilla in 1962, and then being kidnapped in 1968 by the evil Dr. Who (not to be confused with the TimeLord), to be used in his plans for world domination.
